Annie Jump Cannon was hired by Edward Pickering, and she worked as “Pickering’s assistant at the Harvard College Observatory” (1). After that, she was credited with coming up with an easy system that divided the stars into seven spectral classes. The spectral classes were as follows: O, B, A, F, G, K, M. Annie Jump Cannon’s career ended after forty years, but her work paved the way for women in the scientific community and continues to inspire fellow female scientists.

Charles Yeager, known as Chuck Yeager, is a spectacular pilot that lived during that period. He grew up in West Virginia. Chuck lived a normal life up until after high school when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was an excellent pilot. The Yeagers P-51 Mustang was once shot down, and he avoided getting captured and went to Spain.
At the beginning of the war, many accidents were due to mechanical problems with planes, bad weather and errors in navigation. Louie called the B-24 that they flew on a “Flying Coffin.” “Flying the B-24, one of the world’s heaviest planes, was like wrestling a bear” (Hillenbrand 55). Brian from the book “Hatchet” and Max from the book “Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment” are alike and different in many ways. First of all, let us talk about the differences between these two heroes. Max is a girl who has a passion in helping people and cares about other other people even though they are strangers or not. On the other hand, Brian is surviving in the Canadian woods and he was just a survivor of an airplane crash. Max is a hero because in one part of the book, Max stopped what she was doing to help a girl who was about to get beaten up by 3 guys.
In Ray Bradbury’s short story, “The Flying Machine”, Bradbury explores the drawbacks and the ricks of inventing a new technology. With the full depiction of two main characters, the flier and the Emperor, the audience can clearly understand they have quite different characterizations. When the servant called the flier to come down, he “came proudly to the Emperor” (Bradbury 2) that shows he is a confident and naïve person who doesn’t consider his following consequence at all. By contrast, the Emperor has a careful, calm and even cold personality. While the flying man soared down the morning wind, he “glanced in all direction” (Bradbury 2) to observe whether there are other people who see the flier.
