The film was created in 2005 and showed the life of Jim Braddock and his family suffering. He was a well known boxer during the 20's who experienced hardships and lost a lot during the depression. A scene that further illustrates food insecurity is when Jim's son stole salami from the butchers. He didn't have a lot of food, so he thought it would be helpful. His mother, Mae, made him bring it back because it was not right to do so. He was willing to risk getting in trouble if it meant he could eat, which further explains how they suffered from food insecurity. When Jim was at the relief center, there was a man in the center telling the story of his wife. He began to talk about how his wife was unable to get the proper nutrition she needed for her and her baby because she was pregnant. As a result of that, she began to lose all her teeth. This scene can be used to further explain malnutrition because the woman was suffering health problems and lack of nourishment due to this. Food insecurity had many lifelong effects during and after the Great Depression. Cinderella Man explains a lot of reasons people suffer with malnutrition and further supports the severity of the Great Depression.
