I don’t think that anyone was really asking for a live action “remakes of Disney’ animated movies, but it seems like we are getting them any way. Kenneth Branaugh’s “Cinderella” was fine, “Maleficent” was fine, I don’t know if Tim Burton’s 2010 “Alice in Wonderland” fits in the same family, but we have been getting big budget mediocre Disney remakes pretty often with a ton more announced. Jon Favreau’s “The Jungle Book” took it’s source material and improved upon it, making a movie that people can’t help but love and be in awe of. “The Jungle Book” is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Neel Sethi with the voices of Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, and Christopher Walken. Coupled with the beautiful computer generated jungle, the beautiful computer generated animals really made you wonder just how computer generated they were. There were times in this movie, that if these characters hadn’t been talking I would think I was watching footage. Baloo especially always made you wonder if they just put peanut better on the roof of a real bears mouth and just did some great lip-syncing. However, there are some characters that are obviously CG, it’s a little distracting but nothing I couldn’t get over. portraying Tony Stark in “Iron Man”. (Which not surprisingly, Jon Favreau also made.) Neel Sethi did very well for the most part, there were times where I was blown away and other times he played the “child actor card” a little too often, but I was impressed. It was a lot better than most could do at 12. Mowgli was so inventive in this movie, he had clear purpose that the rest of the jungle couldn’t meet in this movie. His inventions were fascinating and I wish we got a few more during the movie. It really touched on every one having a purpose, and a specific thing they are good
