In the United States court system there are three levels of justice: district courts, circuit courts that handle the first level of appeals, and the Supreme court of the United States which is the final level in the federal court system. In the United States there are 94 district courts, 13 circuit courts, and one Supreme court in the entire country. There are both federal and state courts that work separately from each other. The primary difference is when it comes to civil cases; the federal courts are courts of limited jurisdiction meaning that they can hear cases authorized by the United States Constitution or federal statutes.
