Being socially responsible is the idea that businesses should balance profit-making activities with activities that balance benefit society; it involves developing businesses with a positive relationship to the society which they operate. Social responsibility is an ethical theory, in which individuals are accountable for fulfilling their civic duty but the actions of an individual must benefit the whole of society. Social and civic responsibility should be an automatic thing that should come to people’s minds when trying to improve society. The main concept of social responsibility is that every individual, has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystems. By engaging in civic responsibility, citizens ensure and uphold certain democratic values written in the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. In the article “Civil Responsibility” by Jennifer Self, she defines the main topic, “Civic Responsibility is defined as the “responsibility” of the citizen.” This means that civic responsibility is meant for citizens to do what they think is truly best for society. These values or duties include justice, freedom, equality, diversity, authority, privacy,property, and etc. Citizens are able to learn civic responsibility by engaging in service learning. Being responsible meant getting up on time, doing your homework, take out the trash, chores, and things like that. But at the same time we were also being thought the importance of community responsibilities. Community responsibilities are an individual's duties or obligations to the community and include corporation, respect and participation. In source #5 “Individual Rights and community Responsibilities” It saids “It is the responsibility of the individual to watch over a community to make sure the standards are objective and beneficials to human life.” It means that people should have a good surrounding view of the things going on around them, either if it's in their neighborhood, community, school, etc. This is important because if you see something that isn't “right” then it should be your responsibility to step up and resolve the situation the best you can. If action is not taken then a minor situation can turn into a really bad situation and it'll be too late to fix it. Being a responsible person will make your life much easier and it will make the lives around you
