Today we are all called to enact on our own civil disobedience when we are faced with injustice and unfair laws, we are called to make a stand and a declaration to stand up for what we believe
Civil disobedience is the refusal of something in a friendly manner. Politically, America is in a rough situation. America as a whole is slowly separating as a nation. For instance, African-Americans believe they are experiencing prejudice from “white” people. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana there a revolt organized by the infamous “Black Lives Matter” organization.
I consider civil disobedience to be an easily-ignored pillar upon which our democracy was founded. In fact we are only established as a nation now because our founding fathers engaged in civil disobedience themselves. We were in a “social contract” of sorts with Great Britain and when we felt that they had not upheld their part of the contract (they did not allow us to create courts to maintain order, or to create a navy to defend ourselves, or to sustain our economy due to an inability to trade with any other countries), Thomas Jefferson concluded that it was our not only our right, but also our duty to break away. And it was Thomas Jefferson that combined all of the works of the great thinkers before him such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke
The war was extensively supported in the southern states but opposed in the northern states. This division largely developed from expectations of how the expansion of the United States would affect the issue of slavery. At the time, Texas recognized the institution of slavery, but Mexico did not. Many Northern abolitionists viewed the war as an attempt by the slave-owners to expand slavery and secure their continued influence in the federal government. Henry David Thoreau wrote his essay Civil Disobedience and refused to pay taxes because of this war.
Civil Disobedience is an important moral responsibility of a citizen, however it should not get to the level of illegal activity under any circumstances, because great reform can be brought peacefully not violently. In the title named "On Civil Disobedience" by Mohandas K. Ghandi once said: “No country has ever become or will ever become, happy though victory in war”(Mohandas K. Gandhi , 148). Even that long ago, when war was at high, and people embraced it, he knew that the only thing war brought was death, and depression among civilians. This method of civil disobedience has only resulted into more wars, and no real solutions. The most efficient way to the be civilly disobedient is to be peaceful, but willing to stand up for your cause.
The thick, heavily construed, complex, confusing polysyllabic words that would never escape the tongues of any ordinary individual, are the rules and laws we find tucked away in libraries filled with dozens upon dozens of volumes. They are what we as a society have deemed morally wrong, and thus must be associated with consequences. These aren’t meaningless books that get locked in library for mere vanity, yet they are the symbolic representation of what we as a society wish to strive for; peace. So when one is asked with the question on whether, “When is civil disobedience is ever justified ?”, the answer is a resounding ‘never’. Civil Disobedience has become the glorified word for criminals, and delinquents to condone their disrespect to society, and criminal activity.
People's justification to engage in civil disobedience rests on the unresponsiveness that their engagement to oppose an unjust law receives. People who yearn for a change in a policy might sometimes find themselves in a dead end because their “attempts to have the laws repealed have been ignored and legal protests and demonstrations have had no success” (Rawls 373). What Rawls says is that civil disobedience is a last option to oppose an unjust law; therefore, providing civil disobedients with a justification for their cause. Civil disobedience is the spark of light that people encountered at the dead end and they hope that this spark of light will illuminate to show that an unjust law should not exist at all. It is a very controversial subject, many believe that it is warranted in response to those laws people feel are unjust or unfair, and others believe that it is not warranted. I believe as if it is both, in many ways it can be justified, many people protest in order for their voices to be heard, for them to hae a say in something, but sometimes it can get out of hand and turn violent and due to that other peoplr believe it is not justified. Peaceful resistance is a practice followed by many great leaders throughout the world. Such an example as Henry David Thoreau, Martin Luther King and Thomas Jefferson. Regardless of if these men experienced peaceful or violent disobedience, all of these men experienced civil disobedience in one way or another. I believe that peaceful resistance to the laws positively impacts a "free" society. I first would like to introduce the definition of the word "freedom", "the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint."
If you asked me a few weeks ago what I thought about civil disobedience and what actions are forms of civil disobedience I would have answered with very simple responses, such as marching, protestings, etc. But as I’ve begun to learn more about different forms of civil disobedience and developed a nuanced understanding of these said actions I can say that my beliefs and understanding has changed. The texts that I have read over the past week have provided me with insight that has vastly changed my conceptions and knowledge on what civil disobedience is and how it is practiced. My conceptions of civil disobedience were originally fairly shallow as I briefly stated.

Humans have been able to torture, mame, and kill multiple people without a reasonable cause and are later able to completely deny these unusual and horrific actions.
