Civil disobedience is the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest. Civil disobedience is the best way to make a change, peacefully. Snowden is an ex-employee of the C.I.A, he was disobedient by leaking C.I.A information that was against the security rights of a U.S. citizen. This was a form of nonviolent resistance. This involved massive but legal protest against how the Alabama public buses operated. He described nonviolent resistance as, “disobeying a law or lawful authority in protest against injustice.” MLK developed the doctrine of nonviolent resistance due to the people’s cry for justice. To go to violence as a last resort was way out of the question for MLK. He believed that if a person directed nonviolence resistance, it allows the person to positively promote a crisis and let people know about it without having to be arrested for not keeping a secret that authorities wanted to be kept. He believed that if a Negro could turn his cheek against acting out of violence to a racist or segregated situation than he holds a sword that is far more powerful and effective than violence could ever be.
