Breaking News The Battle Of Gettysburg Is Over The crushing 3 day defeat for the rebels is finally over. With over ⅓ of their army gone this battle has been called the turning point of the war. The confederate army will have a tough time rebounding. It looked promising for the Confederates when reinforcements arrived but the Union took them down with ease. This is sure to rise Grant confidence while demolishing Lee’s. The Union suffered over 3,000 pronounced dead. WIth others in critical condition. Please check the casualties section if you have loved ones in the war. At this point it looks like the tides are turning for the Union soldiers. I am very sure the Union are heading for victory. Surely this signals we are near the end of this horrible war. With nearly ½ of his army dead Lee will not be able to continue much longer. In other news this was the biggest battle in the civil war to date with 85,000 Union and 75,000 confederates. It started on July 1st when the confederates were marching towards the Union looking to fight. When they met a small regiment of men in black hats who had been known as the Iron Brigade. They then realized the Union army of the Potomac was near. This could could spell disaster for the union army. General Meade was stationed in his Headquarters in Taneytown when he dispatched Major General Hancock to take command although Major General Howard was already there. He was sent to see whether or not the battle should be fought their or not. Hancock chose to stand because of the good defensive high ground the hills offered. Then suddenly in the afternoon the confederate reinforcements arrived. The next day General Meade had all but one of his corps ready to fight.
