1. What period has special significance to you, and why?
The Civil War era has special significance to me because it decided the fate of America. The United States was a fairly new country, and some key decisions were left to one or two people. For example, if slavery had not been abolished, we would see African-Americans as inferior beings.
The Civil War was also a time when people decided who they were. Trying to choose to be with or against slavery makes people think about themselves, leading to new knowledge about humans as a society. With this new knowledge, people find it easier to treat humans as one people, instead of several different classes.

I had never thought that being accepted would actually happen, and I had a suspicion that the school was not real. A month later, I went to build furniture and receive a tour of the school.
Just recently, I started getting into my routine of waking up early and having my week almost full of after-school activities. I find it strange and oddly renewing after going to bed at ten and waking up at nine every day. I don’t know what to expect at school this year, but I hope that it won’t have too much of an impact on me.
4. Why are you interested in becoming a delegate in the LCM diplomatic program?
I am interested in joining LCM because I attended the one-week summer program and think that I would find it fun and engaging to attend the year-round program. At school, I rarely felt challenged and I would enjoy being in a program that makes me think about real-world situations in a way that will help me later in life.
I would like to expand my knowledge concerning negotiation and debate in a friendly setting. Last year, I learned things at LCM that I had never heard of before. It would be nice to be learning these skills for the entire year, as LCM is my only source of information concerning debate and
