Class differences still exist today, but it is not how it used to be at the time of the Great Depression. Nowadays, there is equal opportunity for education and health. In the 1930th, there was a great class division between the rich and poor in America but still it was so much better compared to 1930th Ireland. McCourt’s purpose of going back to America was his idea of free opportunity.
