The genre of music I decided to learn more about is classical music. Classical music was created around the 11th century and was originated in Europe. Classical music is usually played by and orchestra with many different instruments. The classical music is created by a composer, for example Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach, to name a few. These composers create music for each instrument to play and when played together creates a beautiful melody. To create classical music you need a lot of instruments, as mentioned before. There are a few different categories of instruments needed to create classical music. First you need your string instruments, such as the cello, the violin, and the harp. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is one of the most famous composers from Russia. Some of his most famous works include “The Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, and “Swan Lake.” In the ballet “The Nutcracker” Tchaikovsky keeps the rhythem very light sounding and to me I feel that it is almost a child-like rhythm. I think that Tchaikovsky keeps this score light and airy because the plot is about a child that gets a nutcracker doll and falls asleep with her nutcracker doll and has a dream that she becomes the size of her doll and the doll and other toys come to life and they have to fight a mouse king and the other mice. When the nutcracker tries to fight the mouse he becomes captured the girl saves him and then the nutcracker becomes a prince. After they meet the sugar plum fairy, one of the most famous parts of this ballet, Clara wakes up on christmas day with the Nutcracker in her arms and that is the end of the ballet. I think this dance or story has an affect on the music production because this symphony was created specifically for this
