The first car was invented 129 years ago in 1886, it was called Benz. It did not quite look like the kind of car shape you see today, it looked like a carriage that a horse would pull, no doors, and a bench seat. The Benz also had a top speed of ten miles per hour. The first car may have been around, but they did not get popular until 1908 with the model T. Since then there has been a wide spread of vehicles. There are now 253 million vehicles on American roads. Vehicles come in many shapes and sizes that are designed to meet the needs of the consumer; these vehicles are classified as trucks, SUVs, sedans, coupes, and motorcycle. A truck is defined as a large motor vehicle with four to six wheels and has a rear open cargo department. Trucks come in many different sizes called half-ton, three-quarter ton, one ton, and semi. A half-ton pickup, also known as a lightweight, is the most popular pickup trucks. The most common half-ton pickups are sold by Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, and Dodge; they are f-150, Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500, and Ram 1500. These trucks can have either 2 or 4 doors along with two or four wheel drive options. The consumers that own these vehicles typically do not haul heavy load, but are mainly utilized for the bed and more passenger room. The three quarter ton and one ton are the truck consumers use for heavy personal loads. These trucks are typically the same, they both have two to four doors, the same cab room as one another; yet is bigger than the half ton, and have the option for two or four wheel drive.
