Sleep is arguably one of the most important and essential things every living thing needs to survive. For many people sleep is a saving grace from the world around them, others its a way to feel better and to feel like they have been in a way recharged. Sleep is one of those things that every living creature cant live without. Its a lot like food and water you need it to survive. And just like food not every sleep is the same. In fact there are five different stages of sleep that actually determine how well you sleep. The first stage of sleep is very simple this is light sleep where you drift in and out of sleep and can be woke up easily. Every type of sleep is accomplishing the same goal, just at different levels of success. It all depends on how much sleep you need and the quality of the sleep. On average you need to get seven and a half hours of sleep regardless of the quality. But getting batter quality of sleep is always a bonus when it comes to being alert in the mornings. Spending most of your time in stage one sleep is not the best sleep. The best sleep comes in stage three and four or when your brain is most at rest. To increase your sleep quality doctors from around the world have come of with many ways to help people sleep better. The first and most proven method in helping people sleep better is removing all electronics from your bedroom to help you not be distracted when it comes to bed time. Another great and helpful sleep discovery was called setting your body clock. This works by getting your body used to falling asleep and waking up at the same time everyday. Hypersomnia is when someone gets too much sleep and is constantly tired all day. Hypersomnia can get to the point where people who have it wont be able to get rid of it just by napping every once in a while. A person who has this disorder is usually someone who is constantly late and on any given occasion can sleep for more than twelve hours no problem. However this condition is not as common as many people think. Most people can sleep for up to ten hours no problem but its when it becomes a constant thing, thats when the problem occurs. What happens during hypersomnia is actually very simple but very hard to treat. Unlike most people, people who suffer from hypersomnia enter REM sleep almost as soon as they fall asleep. This causes their muscles to contract more silently and more more often then normal people which leads to less quality sleep. Because of the nature of this condition there are no ways to treat it but there are ways to combat the symptoms themselves.
