Cleopatra VII: Daughter Of The Nile is a work of historical fiction written by Kristina Gregory. Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator, daughter of King Ptolemy XII, is a 12 year-old girl who is third in line for the throne in Alexandria, Egypt. She worries about her sister Tryphaena, trying to kill her. She also worries about her father's relationship with the Romans. But besides being worried about her father's and her safety, she is a careful, confident, and responsible for her age, which leads her to be a great leader. When going out of the palace, Cleopatra disguises herself, Neva and Puzo, her servants, so that the commoners wouldn't know that a princess walked among them. She was careful when drinking the wine her sister gave her because it might have been poisoned. Cleopatra was most careful when talking to the Romans, her dad and her sisters. Her cautiousness bought her respect with the Romans and her father. A responsible person is one of the best kind of people there are; Cleopatra was one of these people. She feels responsible over her younger siblings and her servants. She was constantly asking where her father was and wondering what would happen to Egypt if her oldest, Tryphaena, took her father's place at the throne. Cleopatra's most responsible act is her desire for learning different tongues. This way she is able to communicate with different people such as Pompey, the slaves, her servants and the Egyptian commoners. Cleopatra almost always knew how to handle situations in a way that most of the time got her what she wanted. But to be able to achieve this she did it in a confident but careful way. When she got it, she was responsible so the person wouldn't lose confidence in her. Also, so she wouldn't lose the privilege of having what she got. In this generation, there are very few children how have that confidence, responsibility and cautiousness that Cleopatra
