The Food Industry; Behind Closed Doors Gullible consumers should be more aware of what goes on behind the scenes in the food and health industry. Voluntary health organizations take money from fast food corporations yet promote a healthy lifestyle. Farmers are pressured into signing contracts with companies that promote unethical growth of crops and animals. Meat and crop production is unsafe, unhealthy and dangerous. So, I believe that consumers need to educate themselves about under the table sponsorships, farmers who are being cheated and unsafe food production. Voluntary health organizations promote a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, however they partner up with large corporations in charge of producing the very foods that are claimed as unhealthy. In modern food science, a rule is that if you eat something and after 24 hour you get sick you cannot blame or sue the company that made the food you had eaten. Thus if meat manufacturers sell meat infected with diseases such as E.coli or salmonella the company will just keep spreading disease without getting reprimanded. Furthermore if an animal were to die in a CAFO it could take up to five days for it to be shipped to an animal processing factory. However in those five days that body could have attracted multiple diseases from within the CAFO. In addition to unsafe foods GMOs have become a huge issue. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms meaning that it can change the chemical make-up of our food. Foods that contain GMOs are often missing labeled or not indicated in packaging at all. This is dangerous for consumers because GMOs are linked to hormonal imbalances as well as producing new allergies and carcinogens. To sum it up, the food we buy may be lurking with diseases or
