One emerging IT trend that is currently impacting my organization is cloud computing. This is a technology that is increasingly changing the way businesses store and access data while at the same time attaining efficiency. According to Devasena (2014) instead of storing data and running applications on a personal computer, cloud computing involves storing, processing and accessing data through a network of multiple servers. Many businesses across all industries are increasingly using cloud computing because of its potential benefits such as less cost, more storage, less maintenance, and the pay as you go model. Businesses that re using cloud computing are reporting reduced IT cost, improved data management, improved security, ease of access, and improved communication. Being an early adopter means that the organization will use the technology, and benefit from its advantages, while learning to manage the risks and limitations if the technology. Since the organization is an SME, there are no resources to establish a large data center or move the service to a third party data manager. Cloud computing offers a cheaper option of managing and processing data without the need to have capital for the initial infrastructure and outlays. The company will only need to contact a tech company to provide space in a shared network and customize the cloud according to the needs of the organization. If the organization needs need features or functionalities or even an upgrade, the provider will be contacted to facilitate the addition of these new features or the update. The financial risk is minimal; therefore, the organization would rather be an early adopter than choose to
