Coco Chanel’s upbringing and rise to fame is perfect example of the dedication of an entrepreneur her setbacks and failures and skills that allowed her to succeed prove her wits and helped her become a very influential entrepreneur
Famous entrepreneur Coco Chanel did not have the most glamorous start in life. Born Gabriella Chanel in Saumur, France august 21, 1883, Coco was raised in an orphanage after the death of her mother Jeanne devolle when she was 6 years old.
Till the age of 17 Coco received her education from nuns at an orphanage there she learned to sew. At 18 she was sent to a religious institute in moulins where her aunt, older than her by a year was studying, there she developed more of her sewing skills. Getting a job and housing in a shop as a seamstress she was noticed by many men whom took her out to clubs, inspiring her to want to be a singer. At 20 she became a singer in a café, there she was given the nickname “Coco” that stuck with her. Getting involved with rich man Etienne Balsan he helped her start up her own shop selling mostly hats and her very limited and simple clothesline, her clothes were very modern in comparison to the fashion of the time, very simple and lightweight without any unnecessary frills and bows and extra fabric.
