(The Effect of Chivalry of Knights)

Chivalry is a code or rule, followed specifically by knights. There are two legendary stories that contain the use of chivalry. One of the two stories involves a knight who promises to come back in a year and portray payback. Alike the first story stated before, the second story also has a knight. However, the knight in this story is considered a Britain legend. This legend 's name is Arthur, who becomes a king after the father he never knew he had, forced a sword in a stone and only a king could grasp it. Arthur came in possession of the sword and immediately became the king. Knights were not only supposed to have strength to defeat the enemy, but they were supposed to provide bravery. In the story, “The Green Knight,” translated by Marie Borroff, the green knight shows up to challenge Arthur. He says, “This ax that is heavy enough, to handles as he likes, And I shall bide him the first blow, as bare as I sit.” With that being said, Arthur stands up, however, before he can speak Gawain stands up to volunteer.
