Between 1776 and 1865 a lot was going on. Coercion and unfairness all started with the Declaration of Independence, which is “the fundamental document establishing the United States as a nation” (“Dictionary Definition,” n.d.). Between June and July of 1776 the Declaration of Independence was created. Its job was to establish United States “maturity” and “rationality” so that they could establish an independent nation. The Declaration of Independence that was supposed to equal an “independent nation” left out slaves, Native Americans, and women. Then later around 1783, in the wake of The Revolution, which is, “an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed” (“Dictionary …show more content…

The natives became economically oppressed because Parliament passed the sugar, currency, quartering, and stamp act. Because of the taxes on tea, massacres known as Boston Massacres began. This Increased tensions between colonists and British troops. The British troops fired upon protesters and five people died. The Boston tea party occurred shortly after the tax on tea was enforced in 1773. A group of European Americans decided to dress up as Native Americans and threw tea into the water. They dressed up as Native Americans, specifically Mohawks, because it was a tradition, masking oneself. Along with the natives becoming economically oppressed because the tax on tea which is the natives most important commodity, the Native Americans had to give up their land because the European settlers wanted it. The settlers were more powerful than them and they thought it was okay to kill and threaten the Native Americans. The Native Americans were pushed out of their homes and further west (“New Nation to Civil War,” n.d.). The United States government removed Indians from the southeastern United States in order to clear the region for white settlement. The native tribes that tried to stay were constantly being watched. If they did not pay they were not fed and when they tried to fight back the natives were sentenced to death or arrested (“New Nation to Civil War,” n.d.). The war of 1812 was a fight between the United States and Britain. The Western republicans wanted Native Americans removal from the west as well as British’s influence on Native Americans. The United States wipes out Native Americans resistance from Tecumseh, who is the creator of cam Indian. Andrew Jackson came in and slaughtered a lot of Native Americans.
