I find the Cold War interesting because many peculiar things happened during these 50 long years, and I find some of these facts about the Cold War quite funny that made me more interested about the topic, for example during the Cold War the CIA tried anything to keep tabs on the Russian embassies, they went so far as to launch Operation Acoustic Kitty. A program in which a normal cat was to be trained to become a super spy by surgically embedding bugging devices. The cat would then presumably be sent out in mission to eavesdrop on the Soviets private conversations and knock of random objects in the enemy's most top-secret offices. It awoke relentless tension between the US and the Soviet Union because the Soviet thought that the US had the “bombs” while there the US thought that the Soviet had the “bombs”. They lived in constant fear that the “bombs” might drop any minute. The world was constantly giving under the threat of Nuclear War. Now, these are all bad things that I mentioned but there were some good things as well such as the space race, from launching a rocket into orbit in 1957 to land a man on the moon by 1969. A strong European Union was created after people understood that war was something bad. The effect of the Cold War led to destructive conflicts like Vietnam and the Korean War. The German wall was demolished and the two German nations were united. The Americans became the sole superpower of the world, and communism collapsed
