1.2 Colin Murray Parkes – Model of Loss Colin Murray Parkes theory of loss, in this theory Parkes describes how he believes that people spend their life making attachments to both people and things, Parkes believes that when the attachment to the person or thing is broken, the individual feels emotional pain, Parkes believes that models of loss can act reminders to people, that a lot of behaviour in reply to a loss is good, beneficial and natural. Parkes believes that being angry, upset and even becoming depressed is a normal reply to a difficult change in situation. In Colin Murray Parkes phase 2, Ronnie’s concentration levels seem like they’re falling as Parkes suggests would happen in phase 2, Ronnie adopts a new behaviour and this could’ve been when Ronnie’s grandparents placed him into residential care because they couldn’t deal with his behaviour, as Parkes states on phase 2 that concentration levels drop, this could’ve became apparent on the multiple occasions that Ronnie was excluded from school for multiple different things as he wasn’t interested in being there and could’ve been why Ronnie gained no qualifications. In Colin Murray Parkes phase 3, Ronnie could be realising that the people whom he has lost previously are not coming back into his life which causes him to loose any interest he ever had in building a life for himself and making future plans for his life, instead Ronnie becomes addicted to drugs to the extent where this becomes a normal life for him and he ends up in prison multiple times for different
