Crohn 's is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease that belongs to a larger group of illnesses called inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is associated with inflammation of the digestive tract, or gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which runs from the mouth to the anus, and includes the stomach and intestines. It more commonly affects the end of the small intestine and the large intestine. Crohn 's disease symptoms and complications are unpredictable , you may experience almost no symptoms, then have a sudden flare-up. Prograde Prograde is the relative forward motion through space. My eighth grade year was a momentous shift in my life. I had a life altering hospital visit. I was diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease called Crohn's. Crohn's is something called an autoimmune disorder, which basically means my immune system attacks my gastrointestinal tract more than just breaking down foods.
My life is a puzzle in which I test and solve its unpredictable pieces. I purposefully piece it together by acknowledging and reconciling the most significant fragments of my life. As a first-generation college student, finding my place while navigating the education system has been one of my biggest challenges. Coming from a low-income, Latino(a) single-parent family, I have always been determined to be more than a product of my circumstances; instead, the product of my decisions. Accordingly, I am proud to say I will complete a health science degree that has provided me with invaluable skills and expertise.
As a dedicated student, dismissal from Kaplan University has been an eye-opener. While I blame no one other than myself, it has been the hardest year of my life. My education has been hindered this last term due to a family illness. I failed to acknowledge the importance of my studies and allowed the sickness of my grandfather, my caregiver, to effect me. However, when the slightest disruption interferes with how our senses work properly life can become pretty unbearable at times. Just to name a few issues such as the common cold, seasonal allergies, conjunctivitis, and ear infections can very easily cause the balanced system to go out of whack.
I am a first generation immigrant; I arrive into the United States as a refugee. As every human being set a goal, I have also set myself a goal of education. While I was perusing my educational goal, situation came where I have to choose between education and work. I have chosen education with no doubt, but the decision brings me and my family a financial burden.
