Growing up in my household was never easy due to the intense emphasis on education. As a young child it was pressured on me to attend a good university to succeed in life. My brother went to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as I was growing up, which led to my family persuading me to go their as well. Sticking to the UC system, I took a private tour of University of California San Diego (UCSD) this past summer—and man did I fall in love with the place. In order to do that, I feel I have to put in the work to major in biology during undergrad. To begin with, UCSD is currently ranked 14th in the entire nation for their biological science programs (Best Biological Science Programs). Therefore, to continue on to medical school, receiving a degree from this university would certainly boost up my potential. In fact, just on the campus alone there are many Eucalyptus trees that spawn to add to the feeling of nature (10 Fun Facts about UC San Diego). To me, I find this advantageous since I am not a fan of weather over 90 degrees, yet under 70 degrees. Therefore, the heat given off by the sun due to its location on the equator prevents it from getting too cold. All while the trees provide enough shade to keep a general area cool at least for a period of time. This can help me study or focus on what I need to be doing. Another very intriguing aspect of this school is its general library. Known as Geisel library, it is named after the author Dr. Seuss. But there’s more. The shape of the library itself begins as an inverted pyramid that flips around to continue the pyramid shape at the top. All in all, it looks kind of like a sphere with structural supports on it. But it also includes windows that reflect outward during the daytime and switch around when it becomes night (10 Fun Facts about UC San Diego). This can help me to study knowing students will not be bothering my privacy. Due to these amazing components of the school itself, I find myself more than willing to spend a good portion of my life
