As I approach my first year anniversary of graduating college and entering the work force I can't help but reflect on what skills and experiences have helped shape the starting path of my career. One of the major influences in how I work and think goes back to my time working at a small marketing agency and getting hands on experience within the digital realm of marketing and social media. Once you understand these numbers and experiment with ways to drive them in a positive direction you'll find yourself thinking in a completely different way. Not only do you learn what a CPM and other terms mean you start to understand everything is click driven in this era and getting eyeballs to your website and social media outlets. Most of us already use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Snapchat etc on an everyday basis. Simply reading marketing articles or working on your own personal profiles to be professional will teach you a set of skills to ad to your resume. Starting a blog and marketing it as your own business already gives yourself a marketable trait to sell to a future employer. Creating a family members business a Facebook page or running their social media are easy ways to practice and gain the needed marketing skills as a baseline to build on once in the workforce.
