1. One of the main eligibility requirements for the URISE program is to be “passionate about science and/or math.” In 200 words or less, describe your passion for science and/or math. For as long as I could remember, the inexplicable has kept me curious. The idea that there are infinite numbers between 0 and 1, 1 and 2, and every other number traces back to my passion for mathematics. The complexity and boundless topics to study and research is what intrigues me most about the maths and sciences: there are virtually limitless. While both of these subjects share a complex nature, it is their differences that truly pique my interest. Mathematics is purely manmade for convenience; from simple, elementary topics to advanced calculus and on, every math operation has an purpose that can be applied to everyday life. These courses excite me because they have more real life experiences rather than only lectures. I also like working in teams because it gives me the opportunity to learn from members of my group with different perspectives. Working in teams allows us to share our varied skills and thought processes while still working in cooperation with one another. This is appealing to me because I can work on developing soft skills while continuing to further my education. The research-like labs are also very exciting because I hope to do a lot of research during undergrad and even after graduation. Working in labs has always proven to be my most effective form of studying as it gives me an opportunity to actually put the words into work. I like being able to connect labs on one concept to other concepts to see how it all works together. I want to take the IQS and SMART courses because they are excellent preparation for future professions and graduate school as well as a great opportunity to be part of
