I have always known that the medical field was right for me, but it took me until my senior year of high school to realize that pharmacy was where I belonged. Science and math have always been the most interesting subject to me, and when I was introduced to chemistry I fell in love. My high school chemistry teacher introduced me to the idea and helped to light a flame that soon became a fire. When I was little I would always say, “when I grow up I want to be a doctor.” This all changed in my senior year of high school whenever I realized that I didn’t have the stomach to be a doctor. One day soon after that realization, my chemistry teacher asked me if I had ever thought about studying pharmacy. I honestly had not thought about it at that point, but that night I went home and took a few online quizzes, all of which told me pharmacy was a good choice for my interests. My chemistry teacher continued to help me by finding and registering me for a pharmacy school fair the next weekend. I asked her questions about how much she enjoyed her job, where she received her degree, how difficult the schooling was, and what drew her towards pharmacy. She talked to me for a very long time, not only answering my questions, but also encouraging me to look into becoming a pharmacy technician.
