Education is often viewed as a pursuit purely of knowledge or prestige; however, its true purpose may often be overlooked. Through its promotion of awareness and understanding of world issues and constructs, education stimulates more open and analytical minds which, with proper and patient application, become capable of influencing positive world change. I believe that, with my own proper preparation, I will become a catalyst to this change through teaching. As a part of my life’s goal to spread worldliness and altruism through teaching, I believe that pursuing success in both rigorous language classes and volunteer opportunities in high school, followed by educational instruction courses in college, will allow me to fulfill such aspirations. …show more content…

Through these courses, I have gained the key strength of essay writing, which may be viewed as a purely academic or collegiate skill; however, such writing skills easily transcend pen and paper into the real world, in which articulate and passionate arguments have force and magnitude equal, if not greater than, violence or physical force. Although I am most comfortable articulating my beliefs through written word, the ability to construct a cohesive argument on paper has given me the confidence that my words, just as I do, have a certain place and power to influence positive change in this world. In addition, these language courses have taught me the value of communication through language. English, as all other languages, is key not only in everyday communications, but in fundamental exchanges which define and affect the systems that govern us as human beings. Having learned these skills through the English classes I have partaken in, I believe that I can only grow more capable of teaching others the English language and its many capabilities as I move
