Early in my life, I was always told that as the “man of the house”, it was my duty to look after my mother, my little brother, and my little sister. It was immediately following this honor, that caused me to be less dependent on other people for my overall well being. Having to grow up early has really helped me put into perspective how important being self sufficient is. It’s caused me to reprogram my mentality to predict and fulfill the needs of others who are dependent on me and put them first. So family and what they mean to me have a big influence in my life. They are what motivates me to do everything I need to do for a well-rounded family dynamic but also, providing for them gives me the confidence to achieve all things. As a young man this caused me to hold my self to a higher standard. More than any other man before me. Making mistakes is something I hate doing because of the look of disappointment in the faces of those I love hurt more than any chewing out or beatings. I don’t like not being held accountable for my actions, so even when my mistake can possibly swept under the rug I still feel shame for letting this who look out for me and care about me. This meant that any time I had not executed my task, or mastered my objective, I was falling short of what was expected of me and had ultimately let everyone, including myself down.
