One early Sunday morning, my father brought me to a karting race track. He introduced me to the A1 GP Team Indonesia driver’s coach, Donny Sarwono, which then becoming my one and only coach up until now. I was an 8 years old guy with no dream and plan what I want to be in the future. Yes, it was normal for a young boy. However, by the time I knew what is motorsport and I felt fit in to it, I believe, I will be the next world champion in motorsport from Indonesia. “Drives slowly, and enjoy it,” that was the first thing that Sarwono told me to do when I jumped into the kart for the first time ever. It was only three months of practice, before having my first race ever in 2005. I could say it was not a good preparation for a totally rookie to race in a circuit that I never been there before with other 7 experienced drivers. This year I aimed to be the national champion. I learn a lot of technical things where I never get before. My second and third year was fully on developing my driving skill. I learned types of braking, hard-brake, soft-brake, and trail-braking. In addition, I also learned about cornering which taught me when did I have to turn the steering wheel by smoothly or hardly. However, in this final year being a cadet, the coach introduced me the principles of the engine. My coach found that my zero knowledge about how the engine works limits my achievement. Trouble with the engine I faced several times. Therefore, learning the basic knowledge of it was a crucial thing. Every Saturday morning, my chief engineer, Mursid Kamil, my coach and I seated together in the paddock. On the first day of the lesson, they taught me about how a carburetor works.
