"Maius Opus Moveo.” When I first saw this motto of NCSSM two years ago, I told myself that this is where I belong, since I believe that challenges make one grow the most. Because of this, I have consistently pushed myself academically and personally, and I believe that NCSSM is an environment in which I can grow in both areas to become a better servant to my community.
I have been a top student since grade school, not simply for the “reward” of good grades. I have a genuine desire to learn as much as I can in as many areas as I can, and this is where I derive my greatest rewards. Especially interested in math and science, I am also fascinated by social science classes, and as a bilingual, I highly admire the art of languages. To me, learning

I have taken mostly Honors and AP level courses in my freshman and sophomore years, and I know I am capable of taking even more challenging courses. I utilized my leisure time to study math and computer programming, my favorite subjects. I believe that the in-depth academic courses at NCSSM can offer me an even greater opportunity to expand my knowledge in the fields that most captivate me. For example, there are eight computer science courses listed in the 2014 course catalog, covering topics about databases, threads, and GUI techniques. This contrasts painfully with the single course offered at my local high school. Especially enthusiastic about computer science, I know that computer programming also requires strong background knowledge of math, and the mathematical modeling classes that NCSSM teaches enthrall me. In addition, courses like AP Physics C: Mechanics are appealing to me as a participant in the Chinese Physics Junior Olympiad. In this year’s American Mathematic Competition, I scored 126 on 10A (top 1%) and 118.5 on 12B (top 2%). I believe that with the help and guidance of the teachers in NCSSM, I will achieve more in math and science competitions, and the challenging academic schedule NCSSM offers will not stress me but help me work to my potential
