I want my future self to remember what I have gained by moving and living in the US. I moved to the US in the second semester of my freshman year of high school and it drastically changed my life. I was a kid that never really made my own choices or worked very hard for something. When I lived in Japan, I took an entrance test to go to the school that my parents wanted me to go to and took classes that were assigned to the school. I didn’t like to study, and I never studied hard before the test either, so I had many Cs in my grades. I was a student that would fall asleep at the beginning of the class without realizing and when I looked at the clock the second time; it was already 5 minutes before class ended. When I first came to TP, it surprised me by how everyone was engaged in school. Most people took leadership roles, volunteer, and almost no one was sleeping in class. Many of the people I have met studied very hard for tests and projects to get A in the class. Even through hard work, everyone still left time for their hobbies and hanging out. I realized how much time I have wasted and how much I need to study in order to catch up with everyone. My first assignment was to become fluent in English and get used to the new environment. I studied very hard with my tutor, read English books, and watched many movies on Netflix. I struggled at first in adjusting to the new environment, but my new friends made it so much easier. I also tried my best to keep A in classes. Now, I have accomplished in keeping A in all my classes and I have also made my choice to study harder in AP classes. I also became a lot more confident in putting myself in a new environment and started joining school sports and clubs of my interest. I have improved that I am now taking leadership in a club to support students that are going through similar struggles that I had when I first moved here. By moving to the US, I have learned to try my best in schools and extracurricular activities and also to open myself up for more opportunities. I want my future self to remember the struggles and the accomplishments I
