My name is Jose Carrillo and I’m currently a senior attending South Texas College studying in the B.A.T program in Information Technology. I am currently 21 years of age and I am the fourth and final person in my family to attend college. My first year of college I attended Texas A&M International with the intention of pursuing a career in Biology, that however changed due to the lack of motivation and passion that was built on just pure naivety. As a student fresh out of High School it’s hard not to get caught up with the thought of having a profession that exceeds with wealth in the real world. However, as soon as I entered college I knew things had to be different and they have been. I’ve been able to receive a perfect GPA for the past 3 semesters which is definitely an improvement compared to the past. This hidden potential that I seemed to lack previously became fulfilled as I began to look ahead towards the future instead of the past. The present and the future will always have higher priority when it comes to my education. These past 4 years have allowed me to redeem myself with the many qualities and principles that make a person successful in education. Being able to have the opportunity to study in such a sophisticated degree has allowed me to experience hard work and an ambitious desire to succeed in a field where not many have the commitment to. I am now on my 4th and final year as an I.T. student and I’ve learned so much about distinct areas of technology such as networking, coding, hardware, technical support, security, etc. Much of that learning finally awarded me my Associates Degree as a Computer Specialist this past semester, which is just the first step in my goals to
