Putting My Best Foot Forward
I have changed a lot over the course of my life, positively diversifying and expanding myself into the person I am today. One thing however has always remained constant for me, and that is my love for soccer. At just three years old I recall my first memory of the game, I was mesmerized by the formations of the kids playing and how the ball moved so swiftly; I insisted on joining.
After 12 years of playing and constant practice, I was not only devoted to the sport but determined to make it my future. At age 15 I made it into one of the most prestigious soccer clubs in Minnesota--for a team of 18 year olds at that--only to learn we could not afford to send me there. I didn’t let it get me down however and continued to play for traveling teams. That is until freshman year when I began experiencing extreme foot problems, resulting in an ankle break. I kept playing once my foot healed, but unfortunately my it gave out again the summer before Junior year, and this time for good… I was completely devastated when the doctors told me I could no longer partake in the thing I am best at, the thing I love most, my passion, soccer.

Junior year was a turning point for me, instead of shooting a soccer ball, I shot for good grades. By making my academics a priority, I was amazed at how much I not only enjoyed the challenge of getting straight A’s, but how at the end of the year I felt as if I had just scored a hatrick. Soccer is still incredibly important to me, which is why I became a soccer coach to a group of kindergartners. I am extremely thankful to still be able to incorporate soccer into my life and to be given such a high quality
