College Algebra Class Analysis

In College Algebra I decided to change the preparation techniques I used for the class as well as taking good notes so I would be able to review them without having any confusion. For the lectures I believed I did a good job in a few techniques the textbook presented such as “Be Here Now”, good listening skills and note-taking skills. The preparation for lecture that the book gives is reviewing the notes that was taken in the previous lecture. For College Algebra a few of the topics presented I believed that I had a good enough understanding and knew the topic beforehand that I didn’t review the notes, however for my other classes I do review the notes but only briefly. During each lecture the behavior I always I have had has been focused

I never use my phone during the lecture unless I need to take a picture of a slide that I need to write down and the professor wants to go to the next slide. For the class I haven’t used my laptop unless the professor has told us he want us to use it. My notes are handwritten and I prefer it since for math I would find it difficult writing equations. I notice a few of my classmates use both their phones and laptops in the class to do their homework and outright ignore the lecture and I wouldn’t want end up like that considering I am paying to attend the class. My listening skills I believe are good but they could be further developed since when I take notes I tune out what the professor is saying without meaning to. However when he is solving problems are writing on the board I do focus, it’s when the notes are in the slides that I began pay less attention

In the class most of the topics covered in the first few weeks I felt I didn’t need to review because I had a good enough understanding of the material. However the homework we have is online and it does help because it helps us review the material and if help is needed it tells you how to solve the problem. During these few weeks however it does help to briefly review the notes before the class since the material has gotten more difficult as the course goes by. Also in each lecture the professor gives a worksheet to do just to apply what we learn to the problems but it isn’t due. So it’s a good refresher to work on them outside the class and I also need to work on that since I usually don’t do
