Revised Draft Women's sports have been struggling with the same issue since the beginning. That issue is a RECOGNITION. Over the years, sports have become more popular worldwide, but these sports that are becoming more popular seem to be men’s sports. College and professional sports, for both women and men, deserve recognition for all the effort they give to the game. While there are new rules coming in for women’s sports to help them gain attention and a voice, they are nowhere near the same level of recognition as men’s sports. Her name is Catlin Clark. Catlin is a part of the Iowa basketball program. This new star has, and is gaining, the attention and respect she deserves for her amazing basketball skills. Catlin is one of the women in college athletics that is rising to fame. A factor that has made this possible would be the NIL (name, image, and likeness), that was put in place July 2021. This program has helped many female athletes get sponsors and attention due to their amazing athleticism. This program overall helped the college's women's compensation go up in percentages. The statistics show they are still quite a bit behind the men’s football percentage, but they are only behind men’s basketball by about six percent. The senior director of Opendorse Marketplace Success, Lisa Bregman said this, “The brands that we’re working with are very explicit about saying they want to make sure there is full representation in the athletes that they’re working with on a campaign. They specifically ask for diverse representation of athletes across multiple sports [and] equal representation of men and women,” (Balasaygun). This is just one attribute that is helping the women's college sports gain more promotion and attention.
