I would say it is not a question of what sparked my interest in computing and technology, but rather what encouraged me to act upon this interest. My interest in technology was sparked by my own curiosity and fascination; since the 6th grade I would always check Yahoo News’s Science and Technology tab, taking my newfound knowledge of amazing new advancements and sharing it with my family at the dinner table. I would even print the articles to bring to my science teacher the next day, and we would spend an hour at lunch as the teacher taught me some brief backgrounds on how the technology worked and what implications that the technology would have in our future world. Middle-school-me logged my future invention ideas in a journal- flying shoes …show more content…
The more experience I gather, the further I am able to expand my knowledge and create an impact. My first small step in technology began with self-pursuit. I took Electrical, Mechanical, and Medical-Bot Engineering electives in my freshman year. I learned and participated in programming of Arduino, theory and creation of circuitry, use of workshop tools, and soldering boards. I also exercised creative assembly when designing machinery with legos in regards to certain challenges, whether it be force resistivity or accurate mechanical action. These skills complemented the creation of my innovation in Mechatronics research, which I participated in for 2 years. My Mechatronics research knowledge was then applied to other areas. This is includes my current participation in Nanotechnology research of creating piezoelectronic materials and in my school’s Titanium Robotics team. For Computer and MAKE research requirements of the Robotics team, I also built a robot, self-taught myself Autodesk skills, and learned some …show more content…
As someone who has a strength in writing and presentation as well as holds knowledge in Engineering, I acted as the bridge between our Outreach and Mechatronics divisions. I am currently placed as the Outreach captain. I have also acted on my computing knowledge in the real world. I applied my program knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint from use in scientific research at my Homaer Financial internship. Over the summer, I helped organize and polish English statistics presentations and company introductions of the Chinese private bank. Another community I hope to present in in the future is my classical music community. As a violinist part of the New York Youth Symphony with extensive musician connections, I hope to promote and share my knowledge of technology through the product creation of customized musical accessories with a 3D
