Business has always been my true calling, it is the only field that will make my life enjoyable. I have always been great with computers, I’m the only one in my household that really knows how to operate one. Since I am very handy with computers I always thought that I would spend my life working with the software or hardware aspect. I love playing video games, so when I was younger I decided to create one of my own. This made me wonder if I should pursue a career in game development or even software design. So, I enrolled at Cayuga Community College for a Computer Science degree. I am more than halfway through the first semester and I know it is not what I want to spend the rest of my life doing. I originally enrolled in the Computer Science program planning to be a software designer or developer. This is not what I would like to do in my life, I do not want to spend my whole day on a computer looking at lines of code that are not even mine and correcting someone else’s mistakes. I have switched my degree for next semester to Business Administration, I feel that this degree will help me learn the tools and tricks I need to become a successful strategic marketer. Many people including some of my family told me that I was making the wrong decision because I will never get a job. I know that a career in business will work out for me and I will acquire a job when I graduate from Cayuga Community College. I do not plan to enroll into another college after I earn my associate’s degree, I want to go off and get an entry-level position until I have saved enough money to start my own company as well as flipping houses and investing into other companies. I have interviewed Michael McLaughlin, a graduate of SUNY Oswego College and he said, “Business is a very broad field that has many different sub-fields in which you can choose based on your interests, when I graduated from college it was very tough for me to find a job because I did not yet know what I was searching for”. With this being said, yes, business is a very large category of careers and it is hard to find jobs in the field but I believe that I can find a job in something I enjoy doing and I will be
