At the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School of Business interests me because one of the requirements of the school, the internships, can help me gain real-life experience in multiple aspects of business. Furthermore, because I am interested in the Life Sciences and Management program, I can benefit from a science-related internship and gain more knowledge and experience in medical science. Internships similar to the one offered by NephCure Kidney International are the ones I would look for because I can explore a specialized field and be able to partner with various governmental organizations to further accelerate the development of treatments. My interest in pursuing knowledge in management and business is closely tied in with my interest in medicine. It all began with the showing of the da Vinci system, a minimally invasive surgical robot, in my school. Observing the vast expanse of skin on the screen as I participated in a virtual reality operation, I saw the system’s capability to revolutionize the medical field and this made me think of how it could be marketed and used in countries that lack proper health care. By taking the multiple business classes offered, I can combine my love for medicine with my wish to help the public gain access to technology. Furthermore, because I aspire to improve my communication skills and my ability to collaborate with other students, Penn’s high priority placed on communication and teamwork is impressive because improving my collaboration skills with others can help me in the long run.
