Why don't college athlete get paid? Many people say they should others say elsewise. I'm aganist for paying college athletes. College atheltic programs can't afford to pay athletes. Playing college sports is a privilege. The NCAA is a nonprofit organization. Students are not professionals which most people need to know. Paying college athletes to play would ruin college sports. Another thing is there is not a fair way to pay college athletes. Paying students athletes will cause cuts elsewhere in the athletic department. College students are financially irresponsible. I'm sure a lot of other schools do this to their athletes all the time, because why would you not have your five star player be on the field where everyone paid tickets to see them play. Everyone school has there reason why they do it and its simple why they do it; because they do not want the athletic program to lose money. What I mean by losing money is if the five star athletes do not start or dont not play, are people going to see your school play? No. Also they will lose a lot of revenue because they aren't coming to the stadium to watch them or buying all the appeal they would sell if all these 5 five star players were playing. So coaches would basically do anything to keep their star athletes eligible. Even if they have to break the rules. Which I think is unfair an one of many reason why college athletes shouldn't get paid. The investigation of UNC sandal is still underway trying to figure out what really happened. But everyone knows that UNC broke the rules by registering these students for bogus classes.
