College athletes have to determine if they would rather have spare time in college or if they would rather spend all their time working for their coach. College athletes are one of the most demanding jobs a student could have in college. On average the college athlete will spend more hours competing and training than a person will work a week. Now the athletes are trying to be compensated for their work as an athlete, but it should be clear that they do not need to be compensated due to college scholarships, free benefits, and the equality for individuals. Most people fail to realize that college athletes are essentially getting paid from all the benefits they are receiving from the College though various scholarships (Dorfman, 2013). Colleges are giving their athletes necessary benefits to keep the healthy and to improve their skills to excel in their sport (Yankah, 2015). People are contently overlooking college athletes need to receive professional coaching, strength and fitness training, and support from athletic trainers and physical therapists which are all provided by the college administration for no cost to the athlete (Dorfman, 2013). All the benefits that the college offers to their athletes cost roughly $2,000 to $3,000 per week for every college athlete in their system. If the athletes start to be compensated the colleges will immediately stop giving out the free benefits and will start having their athletes pay for them on their own.
