Cattle, oh how I love cattle. Showing livestock introduced me to my passion for the agriculture industry. But, I also participate in many other activities that have contributed to my interest in agriculture. Livestock judging, meats judging, and public speaking are just a few. As I have participated in these activities, my understanding and knowledge of the industry have flourished. FFA and 4H have exposed me to what I want to do with the rest of my life. These organizations have taught me time management, a strong suit I now possess, due to the various ventures in which I have participated. My hope is to participate in many internships while attending Texas Tech and compete on a judging team. Additionally, I will be able to study livestock, meats, and other aspects of the industry. This will help me develop connections within the agriculture field, travel to locations, and be exposed to other areas in agriculture.
Above all, my long-term goal is to receive a degree in agri-business and work for an agriculture business. This could be the meat industry, marketing, or livestock in some aspect. I plan to continue raising cattle as my family has done for generations. My goal is to breed my own livestock and develop a herd that my children can show through 4-H and FFA. I enjoy all aspects of managing livestock from artificial insemination to finished product and the commitment needed to achieve this. I would also like to obtain a master’s degree in meat science to have options in the meat industry.
My accomplishments throughout high school demonstrate that I am a leader, dependable, organized, efficient, and hard working. I would be a good investment for this scholarship and the return on this investment would be terrific. I plan to use the scholarship money for my education which will further promote the benefits of livestock and how involvement in agricultural can be highly beneficial and
