For this project a metric would be used to predict who was going to win the 2017 March Madness Tournament. The metric consists of a team’s RPI and two stats that have a strong correlation coefficient to how the teams finished in the 2016 tournament. The Rating Percentage Index (RPI)is a ranking system that is used to determine a team 's rank in the tournament and during the regular season. The two stats had to have a moderate correlation to how the last 16 teams in the 2016 tournament finished. Also a scatter plot was used to display two different stats and how they correlated.

This year’s tournament will begin on Tuesday, March 14. Selection Sunday occurs on March 12, and this is when the Selection Committee ranks the teams based on their standings, degree of difficulty of their schedule, and notable wins. Overall, this year’s tournament looks to be exciting and unpredictable.
Students, alumni, families, and fans experience a rush of excitement when NCAA football season starts. The start of the season symbolizes the end of summer and the start of the fall semester. Many gather at tailgating parties to cheer on their favorite team as they compete during an epic gridiron battle. Traditionally beer and other alcoholic beverages have accompanied tailgating events. But since most stadiums have banned alcohol in the past many have chosen to consume large amounts of alcohol before entering the stadium.
The fight for payment of college athletes has not been quick one as more and more issues keep popping up. The NCAA has never allowed payment of its athletes, but small steps towards the overall goal has questioned the NCAA’s past. Its’ decisions has stayed constant since its founding in 1906. High school football gives money to the school and improves the school. In high school sports when a team wins the championship the school gets money that can be used towards hiring new teachers, providing scholarships for students, buying new books, and overall improving the school itself. When a high school football team wins the championship the team's school gets $400,000 that can be spent on the school in many different forms.
The sport I chose to observe was college football. I decided to chose this sport because football is a sport my family enjoys to watch.
