A cappella is the music style performed by pure vocal singing without instrumental accompaniment (Duchan, 2012, p. 1). Though the history of college singing could be traced back to the fifteenth century, collegiate a cappella only became increasingly popular starting in the late twentieth century (Duchan, 2012, p. 1). Though singing without instrumental accompaniment may seems to be easy, there are actually many factors that have influenced and contributed to the sound of the collegiate A Cappella. Important factors such as arrangement, vocal percussion and vocal style have formed the identical sound of collegiate a cappella groups and the sound has contributed to the music community in a bigger picture. These factors will be further exemplified
