The American colonists held the Boston Tea Party on December, 1773. It was not a party though. It was a protest against taxs from England. The British Parliament had already taxed sugar, coffee, wine, and newspapers. The tea tax was too much.
What was the main reason for the Boston Tea Party, let me explain. The Boston Tea Party was a huge protest against England because England kept taxing the colonists without asking them. England made taxes such as the Navigation acts,Stamp act,Townshend acts, and more over the next 122 years, but the most infuriating act that caused the most important backlash from the colonists was the tea act. The colonists drank a lot of tea, they drank it everyday and when England placed a tax on it the colonists knew they had to do something. What was the cause of the
The Boston Port Act closed the Boston Harbor. The Massachusetts Government Act restricted democratic meetings of the town and the governor 's council was an appointed body. The Administration of Justice Act said that if a British Official commits a crime they are sent back to Britain to be prosecuted. The Quartering Act said that the colonists had to provide a home to British soldiers if needed. These acts were all in direct response to the Boston Tea Party and infuriated the colonists.
Britain responded in the Spring of 1774 with five “Coercive Acts” (“Intolerable Acts” in the colonies). The Boston Port Act closed the port to all shipping. The Massachusetts Government Act concentrated power in the royal governor. The Administration of Justice Act allowed British soldiers and officials to be tried in Britain or another colony. The Quartering Act directed the local Boston authorities to find quarters for British troops in the city.
The king punished Boston for their act of rebellion with Coercive Acts These acts closed the Boston Harbor and forced colonists to house redcoats and feed them. The colonists called these acts the “Intolerable Acts”. Colonists were astounded, but also enraged that the king had begun to
I like how you stated there were other ways the Americans could of got Britain to treat them better. The Sons of Liberty were willing to act in non-peaceful protest; however, when American’s made the colonists the constitution they made sure to only allow peaceful protest. Only allowing peaceful protests is essential, but I almost think it is a little hypocritical. Even though the Boston Tea Party fits under terrorism the colonist definitely got their point
The Boston Port Act closed down the Boston Port until the colonists paid for all the tea they had dumped into the sea. The Massachusetts Government Act permanently dismissed the Massachusetts Assembly of any power. The Justice Act allowed any British soldier who kills a rioter a trial in England. Finally, the Quartering Act allowed the British army to seize any property in the colonies that was in possession of a suspected rebel. Additionally, outside the Intolerable Acts, the British passed the Quebec Act, which extended the boundaries of Quebec south to the
A few years gone by and they passed yet another act known as the Intolerable Acts. They passed this act because in December of 1773, “a band of Bostonians dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded British ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor.” (American Revolutionary History) Parliament decided to pass those acts to uphold imperial authority in
After the Boston Massacre, Americans have realized that the British would use force if it was needed to keep them compliant and obedient. The soldiers that shot at the unarmed men walked away not guilty as Crispus Attucks passes away and other men are put through immense pain from the bullets. The colonists grew weary of the control that the British had on them. The bloodshed from the massacre lit a flame under all of the colonists; they knew if it had happened to Boston it could happen elsewhere. They had to do something about this foreign force called the British.
The Boston Tea Party Have you ever wondered what it would be like if an iconic moment in history had never happened? Although The Boston Tea Party cost Great Britain a great deal of important resources it was a necessary event for the Colonists to get their freedom. The British Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts to punish the Colonies for dumping British goods in the harbor. The Boston Tea Party also paved the way for the Revolutionary War. Therefore the American way of life would be extremely different today had the Boston Tea Party never happened.
To start off, the Boston tea party was one of the causes of the American Revolution But before we get into the Boston tea party, we have to know a few things about the French and Indian War. Basically Britain and France fight a war for control over North America from 1756 to 1763. Britain wins, however they went into a big amount of debt fighting in it. After the war, the government of the British decided that the American colonist had to help pay that debt.
Before our founders contrived our Constitution, civilians have always distrusted those in higher powers with their money. As early as the Boston Tea Party in 1773, civilians wanted to implement a system to where their opinions were considered. Therefore, according to Shafritz, Russell, and Borick, they stated that, “Taxation and public spending must be voted for; they must have, in effect, the stamp of democratic approval” (2013, p. 473) However, in present day, this is not the way our government operates. Kettl states, “The Constitution explicitly requires that all tax measures originate in the House of Representatives, the body that the founders believed would be the “people’s house,” to make sure that citizens had a voice in their own
I chose this assignment because it was one of the favorite assignments I've ever done. Ms.Gonzales, our history teacher, asked me to pick a topic and make a movie poster as if I was a director. The point of this assignment was to learn the story of the Boston Tea Party. On this assignment, I earned a 25 over 20 which was an A-plus. I completed this assignment by planning out everything so I don't procrastinate.
The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.
When the British ships arrived in the Boston Harbor The colonist wanted the tea shipped back to England with out payment of tax. Then the royal governor of England insisted on payment of tax. On December 16 a group of men know as the Sons of Liberty disguised there self as Indians and boarded the British ships and dumped all of the tea into the Boston harbor. After that happened parliament passed Coercive Acts. Theses act were put in to place to punish the colonist for dumping the British tea into the Boston harbor.
