Being a leader involves many different characteristics. A leader must set the example for all others in the group, because if they are to show up late to practice, there isn’t a reason that any of the other members should not do the same. A leader must take risks for the benefit of the group as well as make sacrifices for it. Becoming the leader of the group requires for them to be the most dedicated. They must work harder and not be afraid to lead the group. A leader must be willing and ready to not only give orders but receive them. I constantly strive to be the best that I know I can be and aim beyond. If I am given the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership qualities, I hope to prove to myself, my coach, and my teammates that I have what it takes. Despite my past errors this past few years, I am a wiser and stronger person. Arguably because of them. It can be hard to accept the past, but it cannot be changed. Sadly I can’t go back and manipulate things to the way I wished them to happen, but what I can do change the future. Although, I know that I will make more mistakes and have some bad days, as long as, I let those things go, I know I will be the best I can be so I can help the team to the best of my ability. I try not to regret the things that have happened to me in my life, whether it is making a bad choice, saying the wrong thing, not doing something I should have done, or something that happened to me. These things have given me the knowledge I have today. I learn and grow with each choice I make.
