The story of the Wizard of Oz utilizes color to invoke the reader's imagination and provide easy recall of the story. Color also assists the reader in separating the different countries and areas while being able to easily identify the groups that live there. The story puts great emphasis on the color "Yellow". It not only describes the infamous "Yellow Brick Road" traveled by Dorothy and her friends throughout the story, it was the color of land belonging to a group called the "Winkies". The Winkies were nice, kind timid people who lived in the country to the west, they were forces to listen to the Wicked Witch of the West, until they were released from bondage. Dorothy assisted them with the witches demise. Even though the regions were color coded, their clothing was different and there were similarities amongst the people of these lands. They all presumed that their dreams and desires would be answered because the road would lead them to the Emerald City to see the Wizard. During this tale, there were many obstacles to overcome. The Yellow Brick Road was not as perfect as Dorothy had expected. The vibrant colors were a distraction to some of the hurdles they would encountered. What appeared picture perfect had hidden flaws which were meant to prevent the group from fore filling their wishes. However, after having endured a long journey across many Countries, Dorothy, Toto, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin man made it to their mission to get to their final destination, the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of
