JIn chapter 22 in The Color of Water, James meets Aubrey Rubenstein. McBride learns a few things from talking to him. To illustrate, it states, “He got on the phone. “Jaffe,” he said, “I have incredible news”(McBride 223). From the tone of his voice James sees how welcoming the Jewish community is.
The author uses a simile to describe the attraction stating that “the color draws them like heat-seeking missiles” (Orenstein 35). The simile compares the young girls’ attraction to pink to heat seeking missiles which is an exaggeration that helps show how strong the attraction is. This however, was not always the case as other adults revealed they “do not remember being so obsessed with pink” (Orenstein 35). I applied this concept as I created my advertisement, using colors that transitioned from cool blue to red hot. The overall effect I hope to achieve is that by the time viewers read the red “F”, they feel excitement about this year’s festival and are motivated to participate. Though I could have created this same effect with a variety of color gradiations, I chose to start with the color blue.
