The color red being associated with love, lust, and passion is known as the red-sex link. This red-sex link leads a man to think of a woman who is wearing red as more attractive and more sexually desirable however this effect only happens in a heterosexual context of a man looking at a woman in red and not a women looking at women or vice versa of women looking at a man in red. The color in context theory on the color of red in particular is different because red is usually the color of failure especially in an achievement situation for example the red pen marking an answer wrong on a test. Green usually has a positive effect and red the negative when it comes to color in contract for example a green light is positive while a red light is negative. The experiment was to take thirty-one males and have them judge a moderately attractive female yearbook style photo on a 1-9 scale of attractiveness, sexual attraction, and perceived kindness and intelligence. The picture of the female would be the independent variable as it wouldn’t change and the different color backgrounds of red and green would be the dependent variable. The hypothesis was that the green background, the more positive color, would receive a higher score in the positive areas of perceived kindness and intelligence while the red background would receive a higher rating in attractiveness and sexual attraction. The sum came to a good conclusion as the males who saw the red picture judged the female as more attractive and more sexually desirable than the males who saw the green photo did. The perceived kindness and intelligence rating stayed the same between the two colors proving that color could not affect judgement in kindness or
