In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the story’s setting takes place in a society that burns books to create happiness for every individual. Guy Montag, a fireman, begins to see society from different perspectives. Once new characters and events arrive, he tries to solve the meanings behind books. By the end of the book, Montag finds a group of guys that memorize books and believe in Montag’s thoughts. Ray Bradbury uses the motif of colors to demonstrate that when one forces a way of thinking, it creates an unimaginative society.
In the poem “An Obstacle” by Charlotte Gilman, the author uses different literary devices to provide insight into the passage and inform the reader of what events take place. This helps the reader understand how “Prejudice” is described and how the author decides to deal with it. For example, the author describes Prejudice as a man who stands in her way. This shows that the author thinks of prejudice as an obstacle that stands in the way of where she wants to. This is shown when she says, “And then I reasoned quietly with that colossal mule: my time was short – no other path – the mountain winds were cool.
(Line 3) Clearly, the boy is still youthful in this situation. He begins to beg his father to tell him a story. His father, saddened by lack of a story, struggles to figure out something to tell the boy. The man then notes his fear that if he fails to tell his son stories, he will leave his father.

Item 2: Color Chart: In the book “The Great Gatsby,” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, colors have been used to represent the character’s unapparent and underlying thoughts, feelings, status and class. Through the motif of colors, Fitzgerald depicts the feelings of the character as he refers to a specific color while describing each one of them. The colors make a deep impact on the readers as they contain a profound meaning throughout the novel. There are around five main colors in the novel appearing frequently: white, yellow, green, blue and grey, which help the novel look more gaudy and idealistic.
This excerpt is the first time in the book the theme of color is directly looked at. The excerpt directly tell the reader that Sethe has not noticed color since the burial of her child. The perspective of this excerpt is from the view of the narrator who says it is a shame that she never sees colors any more. I think the colors symbolize the joy of life. From what I have seen in the book, Sethe seems content in life.

Colors can represent many different things. Artists utilizes colors in their artwork when they want you to portray a certain emotion or see what they are trying to express. For example, when an artist is trying to convey sadness they will often use dull colors like black or gray. When an artist is trying to express happiness they will use bright colors. Bruce Springsteen himself, the speaker, represents a young man who is ready and wanting to take a chance. He may want a companion, so he is asking his female friend (perhaps lover) to come on an adventure with him, to hold his hand while they both take a chance.
