Bridgewater, Va. – The Treasury Department announced on Wednesday April 20th, abolitionist, and anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman is to replace the 7th president of the United States, Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. This is a mark in history because she will not only be the first African-American to appear on United States paper currency, but also the first woman in over a century. The original plan was to have a woman replace founding father Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill. But that plan was revoked according to Jacob Lew, the Treasury Secretary, when the Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway musical portraying Hamilton’s life gained a lot of support, as reported by USA Today.

The North Berwick Witch Trials began in 1590 and carried on till 1592. Many people that came from East Lothian, Scotland, including several nobles of the Scottish court. The questionable witches were incriminated for holding their covens on the Auld Kirk Green in the village of North Berwick, East Lothian which is near Edinburgh. Witchcraft wasn't a problem nor a concern at first but the events following made some very drastic changes in East Lothian, Scotland. A year or so preceding to the events was a time where King James VI of Scotland, was very merciful when it came to witchcraft.

During the proposal of the Equal Rights Amendment in 1972, Schlafly founded a group with more proactive approach called “Stop ERA” with one goal in mind, to defeat the ratification of ERA. After the success of the “Stop ERA” campaign, Phyllis Schlafly founded the eagle forum, a pro family group dedicated to “opposing all encroachments against American sovereignty through…feminist goals” (Schlafly). Althoug the primary interaction that eagle forum has had with the womens movement was the ERA, they also are incessantly combating
The Belt Parkway, a six lane series of three parkways (the shore parkway, the southern parkway, and the laurelton parkway) that provides access to Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens and Long Island as well as John F. Kennedy International Airport. If you know anyone who lives in or around New York City they will tell you that traffic congestion is a big negative externality. The Belt Parkway is known as one of the most jam packed parkways especially during holiday season. The Belt Parkway literally wraps around the southern part of Kings County, Brooklyn and Queens; which happens to be the second and fourth most densely populated county in the United States. Traffic congestion is a big issue in urban environments.
Roath Park in Cardiff, Wales opened in 1894 and is one of the most important late Victorian public parks in Wales. Roath Park Lake is home to the Scott Memorial Light house. Little Rock Nine were nine African Americans who opposed racial segregation in public schools by attending all white schools. The group consisted of Melba Pattillo, Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Minnijean Brown, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls, Jefferson Thomas, Gloria Ray, and Thelma Mothershed. The students attended school on the second day of school, but the governor of Arkansas sent police to block the entrance of the school.
Hampton Park is a public park in Charleston, South Carolina located at 30 Mary Murray Drive. Being 60 acres long, it is the largest park on the peninsula. In the past week, I have visited Hampton Park three days. I visited the park on Thursday, February 23rd from 1:00-1:45pm, Saturday, February 25th from 9:00-10:00am and 2:30-3:30pm, as well as Sunday, February 26th from 12:00-2:00pm. The first time I visited Hampton Park, I was very surprised to see such a large and beautiful park in the downtown area.

This amusement park was different because people could go and there was not a fee to enter unless the customers rode a ride. There were other parks that opened in this time frame and due to this, Brooklyn was known as “America 's Playground”. In the 1900s, Luna Park had just opened, it had many attractions, and it made people feel like they just took a trip around the world.

In Search of April Raintree/essay The life of April Raintree, her family and culture. She was very young when she was taken from her family and had to grow up in foster care till she was old enough to care for herself, not having the life she so wanted. April had two sisters that were also put into care, they both died. April struggled with her background of having drunkard parents, her identity and being Metis. She was a quiet person that didn’t like conflict and seemed to always get into situations of being abused for no apparent reason.
